Kuneva Kostadinka, (Greek: Κωνσταντίνα Κούνεβα) was born in the city of Silistra, Bulgaria, in 1964. She has studied History and has a specialization on Ethnology, but she took up work in the cleaning sector in 2003, two years after moving to Greece with her child. She is a unionist and was secretary of the Greek Trade Union of Cleaners and Housekeepers, working as a janitor for “OIKOMET” company (providing services to , among other clients) through outsourcing.
She was attacked with sulfuric acid (vitriol) on the night of December 22nd, 2008. The attack was linked to her union activities in representing cleaning personnel. As a result of the attack she lost her sight in one eye and has limited vision in the other. Her vocal chords and trachea were also seriously damaged. The attack was described as the most severe assault on a trade unionist in Greece in 50 years.
In 2014 she was elected to the European Parliament with the left-wing SYRIZA party, in the elections of May 25th, 2014.
